Chris
Harris - World renowned director and authority on Pantomime
will be taking part in this
years Somerfest with three events over the weekend, Baked
Beans and Custard, Ally
Sloper's Half Holiday and a Drama
Workshop. He has worked with leading companies in the UK including
the R.S.C. and Bristol Old Vic. His TV credits include an RTS award for
the BBC series 'Hey Look That's Me', and also five programmes he has co-written
and performed in, including the trilogy, 'That's The Way To Do It!' which
received a Royal Command performance in 1979.
He tours the world extensively with
his five one-man shows, the foremost of which, Kemp's Jig has already
been seen in 55 countries, at the TSC RNT and also on TV and radio. His
current shows include 'Ally Sloper's Half Holiday' and 'Beemaster'.
He
is much sought after as a lecturer and teacher notably as a regular visiting
lecturer and director for the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He has lectured
at universities in London, Manchester, Exeter, Manila, Bangkok and Bristol.
He has directed throughout the world, The Turkish National Theatre in
Istanbul, The National Theatre of Namibia, Chung Ying Company in Hong
Kong, UP in the Philippines, Stars Theatre Company Singapore and at home,
The Bristol Old Vic Company.
As a recognised authority on pantomime
he has co-written the past 9 pantomimes for the Bristol Old Vic in which
he has also played the lead of dame.
