We are proud of our work as a learning community committed to students achieving their best.  We are a very successful, over-subscribed community comprehensive school.  In March 2002 we were designated as a Specialist Technology College and in the same month achieved Investors in People status.  We are always pleased to welcome visitors to our school.  Simple contact us to arrange a visit.

Chilton Trinity is an 11-16 Comprehensive LEA co-educational secondary school which serves both the town and rural areas. Since it opened in 1966, it has expanded steadily and currently has 1024 students on roll.

Situation and Development:

The buildings are purpose built and stand in 14 acres to the NW side of town. Since its opening, the LEA has added

• a humanities block with a Drama studio
• a second science area with 4 additional laboratories
• a prestigious Sports & Leisure Centre, jointly funded with Sedgemoor District Council
• a second playing field area, with athletics and cricket facilities
• In June 2001 our Artificial Turf Pitch was officially opened. Jointly funded by Sport England, Sedgemoor District Council, the Parents, Staff and Friends association of Chilton Trinity School and many other local partnerships excellent facility is available for both school and community use
• In March 2002 we were designated a Specialist Technology College and capital works will start in September to improve our accommodation in Maths, Science and Technology.

Recent Developments:

In addition the school has refurbished a number of areas to provide enhanced facilities for students, which include:

• three Information Technology rooms with networked PC's and Information Technology suites in departmental areas. All have internet access. Wireless transmitters are being piloted to improve flexibility of provision in curriculum areas.
• three multi-purpose Technology rooms for Textiles and Food
• a Computer Design area and improvements in Design Technology
• a major extension to the school library
• additional facilities for Community use
• a set of cricket nets through the Somerset Cricket Project
• a new foyer and entrance to the School
• a social inclusion annexe, located in the newly refurbished Bungalow, funded by a grant from the DfES
• up-graded changing facilities as part of our Sport England (lottery) bid
• plans for an enrichment centre, located on the site of the former pool, funded through DfES grants and government funding

The Local Authority has undertaken a feasibility study to plan future developments for further permanent buildings; these are likely to include a Mathematics and Information Technology block and improved Music and Drama facilities.

We have also begun a major three year programme of improvements, upgrading and renovation.

As a school we are keen to develop our students understanding of their local, national and global ciommunities. Active links have been established with:

In February our students set up a Global links website to celebrate the international dimension of our work as a school. The Somerset Goes Global team helped them create a website whcih gives an exciting insight into our multi-cultural community of interests.
