Centurion Carnival Club was originally formed
way back in 1938 and went by the name of the
Town Council Employees C.C. Since then the Club has won the prestigious
Ker Cup five times and won the Top County Cup twice. The Club changed its
name to Centurions in 1984 and we are the only club to have won The Hopper
Cup three times in a row at the Carnival Concerts.
In 1982 a winning entry 'Signs of the Zodiac' was also chosen to go and
take part in the Easter Parade in London. The club is proud to uphold
Bridgwater's Carnival tradition as one of only two tableau groups
remaining in the town.
As
with all Carnival Clubs fundraising is very important to us as this is how
we raise the money necessary to put on the show at concert time and create
a cart entry ready for November. We raise money by holding Bingo
nights, Raffles, Sponsored Walks, Skittle weekends and through sponsership.
Anybody interested in the club or wishing to join can either contact
us at The Mansion House in the High Street or email James on centurionscc@whsmithnet.co.uk.
