What Works Are Eligible ?
Targeted buildings are earmarked in the Action Plan for one or more categories of ‘Eligible Works’, which are listed below. All works are to be undertaken to conservation best practice, using high quality natural or traditional materials. The T.H.I. office can inform you which categories or work are relevant to your building. Repairs - To the structure or external parts of a building that enhance the Conservation Area. This could include repairs to the roof, brickwork, rainwater goods, windows etc. Architectural reinstatement - The reinstatement of lost building details that are essential to its character. All works must be supported by sufficient historical evidence. Reinstatement works could include balconies. Finials, ornamental masonry, traditional shop-fronts, etc. Floor-space – Reuse of floor-space sympathetic conversions to bring vacant floor-space back into use. Gap sites – Contributions to new infill buildings, in order to improve the appearance of the Conservation Area. Environmental works - Repair or reinstatement of outdoor features, such as historic surfaces, boundary railings or walls street furniture etc. |
