Christmas 2002Angel Place, Sainsbury’s and Sedgemoor District Council are the first to come forward with Sponsorship funds for Christmas in Bridgwater. The Bridgwater Business Initiative Christmas Committee have an outline plan for entertainment but need to secure funds to make firm bookings for artists and entertainers and organise a marketing programme. We would like to invite each business to contribute a minimum of £25.00 towards the Christmas programme. Any contributions of £250 or more will ensure sponsors are included in promotional material. We hope that Somerfest demonstrated how a varied programme can include all the areas where it is safe to put entertainers in the town. All these type of events are put on for your benefit to encourage footfall. The outline plan of events includes Santa Claus arriving, a ‘Switch On’ parade, Victorian Craft Market, Farmers and WI Markets, Christmas competitions, Childrens Fair Rides, Saturday entertainment throughout December, including ACTS childrens Song and Dance Group. The weekend of December 28/29 will complete the programme and for now the final activity is remaning firmly under wraps! We would like to encourage Sunday opening and some late night opening, in particular on the ‘Switch On’ night, 22 November. We are also looking at Christmas lighting, a range of suppliers for small Christmas trees and special marketing packages for businesses that could link radio and press advertising over the festive period. Members of the BBI Christmas Committee are drawn from Sainsbury’s, Boots, Hooks (Eastover), Bridgwater Arts Centre, Press Officer SDC, and Town Centre Manager. All committee members are active and take on some responsibility for the Christmas programme. If you would like to be proactive in the Christmas festivities, or can provide some entertainment, please get in touch now. If you wish to make a contribution to Christmas please send a cheque payable to Bridgwater Town Centre Manager and send it to: Christmas Sponsorship, Royal Clarence House, York Buildings, Bridgwater.
