Autumn 2002 Newsletter - Page 6

www.bridgwater.net

Whilst the summer months are normally one of the quietest periods for websites, these past few months have been the busiest yet for Bridgwater. net with more visitors than ever before. Between 1 July and 30 September the site statistics have recorded 114,655 unique hits to the site, that’s over 1,200 a day.

One reason for this improvement in the ratings is the success of some of our reciprocal links with other websites. Most clubs, societies and local council websites that have links from the town website now also link back to it. The Westonzoyland Pumping Station and Haynes Motor Museum websites also link to the town website. Do you run a company website? If so and you would like to set up a reciprocal link (or even an advert) with the town web then please contact me (details below).

Thank you and welcome to the new business adverts on the website from Swift TV, Rossiter and Sons, Central Motor Co, Ledgability, and Knowle Manor Country Guest House. New content for the website has also been provided by the ‘Young Ones Carnival Club’ and Penrose School.

I have included some more comments from the Guest Book for this issue as they show that people do look at the website and often have good suggestions.

'Bridgwater resident found the site whilst browsing. Very interesting without bias. Well done to whoever put it together. Give the site more publicity locally I’m sure there would be more curious visitors. Please keep up the good standard.'

From RM, England

'A very good website on Bridgwater. I found out what I wanted within 2 minutes. Very pleased with that.'

Nigel Jones, England

'Greetings from Bridgewater (MA) Fire Department.'

Roderick K. Walsh, USA

'Anybody interested in family history in Bridgwater then get in contact. I’ve been researching my Family Tree and would love to make contact with anyone doing the same.'

Andy P, Bridgwater

A ‘kids’ section is now in the early stages of development with on-line games to play and information on activities that may be of interest to the younger generation. I shall also include any adverts and links to shops and businesses that might also be relevant. I would welcome any comments or criticism on setting up this area as my childhood days are rapidly disappearing.

Once again a big thank you to anyone that has helped with content or constructive criticism. Keep visiting the site.
